Sherry Annette Crosby

July 8, 1961 — June 1, 2025

Cheyenne

Sherry Annette Crosby, a beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away quietly at her home on June 1, 2025, with her husband Eric by her side. Born on July 8, 1961, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Sherry was a beacon of light, known for her loving and gentle spirit. Her dedication to her family and community enhanced the lives of everyone she met.

Sherry trained to be a teacher taking classes at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque and New Mexico State University in Las Cruces where she earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education., She serving as an elementary school teacher in Grants and Hatch, New Mexico. She later took on the role of a substitute teacher in Cheyenne. In October 1995, she embraced her most fulfilling challenge when she became a stay-at-home mom, pouring her love and creativity into raising her son, Daniel, and nurturing her family.

Sherry always claimed that she was not very creative, but regularly explored new hobbies ranging from stamping to knitting, crocheting, and culminating in her deep love of quilting. Sherry completed two significant projects—a sampler and a single blanket—which she proudly entered into a local contest.

Beyond her talents, Sherry possessed a remarkable gift for empathy. She had a special ability to listen and support those in need, often making meals for friends and family who were struggling. Her Christian faith was integral to her life, and she found joy in singing hymns and gospel songs, where she often seemed to transcend earthly bounds, lifted to the throne room of Jesus. She frequently attempted to read through the Bible in a year, but her desire to fully understand each passage made that impossible. She would sometimes spend three hours in a single chapter, checking cross references and reading commentaries, when the day's "assignment" was four or five chapters.

Among her proudest accomplishments was becoming a Stephens Minister after months of training. This role allowed her to extend her compassion and care to lovely Christian women who simply needed a friend. She was dedicated to bringing comfort and solace, embodying the essence of true service.

Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Eric; her cherished son, Daniel, and daughter-in-law, Christine; her brother, Craig Spencer; brother-in-law Curt Massey; and her nephews, Scott and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Spencer; her mother, Sonja Spencer (Bailey); her sister, Lagi Kay Massey; and her niece, Amber Otero.

Her life was filled with beautiful memories and a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. As we remember Sherry Annette Crosby, we hold close the joy she brought into our lives and the profound impact she made on all who were fortunate enough to know her. The funeral service will take place on June 5, 2025, at Lakeview Chapel at Schrader Funeral Home in Cheyenne, followed by burial at Lakeview Cemetery. Although our hearts are heavy with her passing, we will forever cherish the laughter, warmth, and love that Sherry radiated throughout her life.
