Terry Wayne Lewis, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 27, 2026, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was born on December 23, 1961, in Hereford, Texas, to Laverne Vanlandingham and Eugene Lewis. Terry’s life was marked by an enduring commitment to his family. 

Terry’s professional journey spanned several decades and industries. He worked many years at Dawn Cattle Feeders in Texas before embarking on a significant chapter of his career as a conductor for Union Pacific from 2004 to 2019. Terry’s talents and passions extended into the arts. He enjoyed leatherwork, fashioning handmade gifts for family members, a testament to his thoughtful nature. Photography was another of his interests; he even owned and operated his own photography business in Hereford, capturing moments and memories that would last a lifetime.

Beyond his career, Terry was a person of remarkable generosity and compassion. Known by those who loved him as the most caring and selfless individual, Terry was always willing to give to others—even in times of personal scarcity. This spirit of giving shone brightest within his own family, where he cherished every moment spent together, especially during the holidays. Memories of Terry often include the hours he devoted to preparing meals, lovingly recreating his mother Laverne’s treasured desserts, and sharing his famous green jello, which brought joy to many gatherings

Terry’s proudest accomplishments were found in his role as a grandfather. His granddaughters—Maliha, Aria, and Marley Primavera—were his pride and joy, filling his days with happiness and purpose. He also cherished the time spent with his wife, Aruna Lewis, whom he met during meaningful missionary work in India, a testament to his compassionate spirit and global heart.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Aruna Lewis; daughters Monisha Primavera and Savannah Lewis; granddaughters Maliha, Aria, and Marley Primavera; his aunt Joanie Sargent; brother and sister-in-law Kyle and Christie Vanlandingham; sister-in-law Donna Vanlandingham; and numerous nieces and nephews who held him dear. Terry is preceded in death by his son, Ethan Lewis; his parents, Roy and Laverne Vanlandingham; and his siblings Cary and Rhonda Vanlandingham.

A memorial service to honor Terry’s beautiful life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Element Church. Funeral service arrangements in Hereford, Texas, will be determined and shared in due course.
