Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we inform you of the death of Verna Gail Christmann, 67 years old, of Cheyenne, Wyoming. Gail was born on December 4, 1958 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Thomas and Sylvia Ferguson. She took her last breath on April 29, 2026 in Ft. Collins, Colorado with her husband, daughters, and oldest granddaughter by her side.

Gail’s favorite childhood memories included living in Holland while her father was stationed there in the USAF. She was raised in Cheyenne with her other 4 siblings and attended Central High School. She had her first two daughters, Amanda ("Mandy") and Janell ("Jennie") then she met and married her ”better half”, Mike, and they had two more children, Nichole ("Nickie") and Joseph ("JC").

During their nearly 47 years of marriage, Gail and Mike developed a deep love that is rarely seen. Theirs is a shining example of true love and loyalty. Gail had a heart of gold and it showed in everything she did and Mike proudly supported her through it all. Although largely a stay at home mom and wife while raising their children, Gail’s heart led her to helping others. She and Mike opened their home as foster parents to many kids needing a home both temporary and long term. They went on to adopt three siblings, Scott, Donielle and Aaron. They also opened their home to foreign exchange students through the years and Gail was an unofficial second mom to many of her kids friends.

Gail attended beauty school and was the hair and makeup stylist for her daughters' weddings, as well as many of their friends. She also became a certified nail tech later and took pride in her skills. She worked at the Attention and Hirst Homes helping troubled youth. She earned her CNA license and worked closely with the elderly and then at Magic City. Helping others was her true calling and she loved the residents and their families. She began working for LCSD #1 Transportation as a Transportation Assistant assisting students getting to and from school. Her bus kids loved her and she loved them. She was always bringing little “pick-me-ups” to give to the kids when they had a rough day.

In early 2019, Gail was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer but beat all odds when she was declared cancer free at the end of the same year. She did her best to not let it slow her down and spent a lot of time working on her sewing and crafts, in which she was very talented. Her skills ranged from hand-making porcelain dolls to making soaps and lotions to making flower arrangements and wedding dresses. She loved to draw as well as cook and bake. Nobody could make a cannoli the same.

Gail’s memory lives on in her husband, Michael Christmann, and their children Mandy (John), Jennie (Adam), Nickie, JC (Korrie), Scott, Donielle, and Aaron. She is also loved by her grandchildren, Kierstyn, Kaden, Kaeleigh, Kyle, Kennadee, Kinley, Shelby, Nolan, Renee, Eric, Isaiah, Mason, Skyler, Austin, Arianna, Sienna, Landon, Avery, Emery, Dax, Monty, Elouise, Karter, Alex, Leandra, Christopher, and Adalynn, as well as numerous “bonus” grandchildren. Her legacy lives on through her great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Sylvia, Hunter, and Lunar – as well as two additional who will arrive this year. She is also survived by her sisters, Syliva Anne Rife and Kathy Higgins, her brother, Robert Ferguson, and her life-long friend turned bonus sister, Betty Lloyd.

Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Sylvia Ferguson, her brother, Randy Ferguson, and her brother-in-law, Michael Higgins.

For all who loved her, Gail will be remembered on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 2pm at Schrader, Aragon & Jacoby Funeral Home located at 2222 Russell Ave, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82001.
