A memorial service celebrating Ginnys life will be held Sunday, October 7th at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Schrader Funeral Home. Interment will be in Cincinnati, Ohio, with her parents. Virginia H. (Ginny) Hilton died Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne. Born June 17, 1925 in Springfield Ohio, Virginia grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. She graduated from Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She taught kindergarten in the Dayton Public Schools and later worked with children at the Dayton Children’s Psychiatric Hospital. In 1983 she moved to Cheyenne and was employed as an educational assistant at Alta Vista, Afflerbach, Dildine, Cole Elementary Schools and Carey Jr. High School in Cheyenne until her retirement in 1997. Ginny was a member of the Kappa Kappa Iota educator’s organization in Cheyenne and a Kappa Kappa Delta Emerald Circle member signifying 50 years membership in that sorority. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church here in Cheyenne. After her family and education, Ginny’s great passions were reading and baseball. She spent her retirement reading westerns and mysteries and cheering for her hometown Cincinnati Reds and her adopted Colorado Rockies. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rose, sister Katherine and her son, John Hilton. Ginny is survived by her daughters Beth Hammond of Lebanon, Ohio; Linda Dixon of Cheyenne, son-in-law Lynn Dixon, grandson Jared Dixon, granddaughter-in-law Christine Campanella Dixon and great grandchildren Thomas Vincent and Maggie Elizabeth. Friends who chose to do so are asked to contribute, in Ginny’s memory, to the church or charity of their choice.
