William "Bill" Cole

October 6, 1939 — November 19, 2025

Cheyenne

William “Bill” Cole, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 19, 2025, in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Born on October 6, 1939, in LaGrange, Wyoming, Bill lived a life defined by kindness, dedication, and service; leaving behind memories that will forever be treasured by all who knew him.

Bill’s career was nothing short of commendable. He began his professional life working for Odin Holgerson in Albin, later joining the Y6 Petsch Ranch in Meriden. His skills and reliability took him to the University of Wyoming in Laramie as a maintenance worker, and for two decades he worked at Interior Services in Cheyenne laying carpet. Bill went on to serve Laramie County School District 1 in maintenance, continuing his lifelong commitment to supporting his community through hard work and care.

Among the many moments that defined Bill’s life, one especially memorable highlight came on January 30, 2002, when he had the honor of carrying the Olympic torch through Wheatland, Wyoming. This proud achievement reflected his spirited nature and served as a reminder of his contributions to his community. Bill also generously donated 10 gallons of blood over the years, earning a plaque recognizing his dedication to helping others.

Bill’s education was in Albin, where he first cultivated the values; hard work, loyalty, and generosity, that guided him throughout his life. He was known for his giving heart and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Bill embraced life with enthusiasm, enjoying camping, square dancing, and traveling. He proudly danced with various square-dancing groups in Cheyenne and was a member of the Wonder Yonders. His love of adventure also led him across the United States and abroad with the B and J Travel group. A passionate University of Wyoming football fan, Bill was a loyal season ticket holder for more than 50 years.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; their daughter, Lori; and their son Cory (Dawn). He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to Richard (Amanda), Kara, Dillon (Josie), and Jessica. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Blake, Kyson, Gage, Coralee, Addley, Ira, Emberley, and Grayson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude “Shorty” and Mildred; his brothers, Dewayne Antrobus and Jack Cole; and his sister, Oletha Cole Wilson. Their influence helped shape the man Bill became, and their memories will continue to surround his family with warmth and love.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on November 25, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home in Cheyenne, Wyoming. As we gather to remember him, we honor a life lived with generosity, love, and unwavering dedication to others.
