William G. “Bill” Foy was born on November 29, 1927 and passed away on August 31, 2025 at the age of 97. He was born in Rock Springs, WY to John and Anna Foy. The family moved to Cheyenne, WY in 1940 and Bill played basketball and football for Cheyenne High School and graduated with the Class of ‘47. He attended the University of Wyoming, then served in the 1092 Army Combat Engineers during the Korean War as a demolition expert. He went to work for Mountain Bell in the Engineering Department after being discharged in 1952. He married his boss’s secretary, Alfreda L. “Freddie Lou” Richardson, in April 1958. They lived in Powell, WY for eight years while he was the Outside Plant Engineer for the Big Horn Basin and the Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. They had three sons, Chris, Casey, and John and spent many years on the bleachers at East High School. He and the boys enjoyed the great outdoors while either camping or hunting. He took early retirement upon divestiture of the Bell System in Dec. 1984. He owned Indian Hills Laundry and Dry Cleaners, then worked for the Gill Window Company as a sales rep. He decided to retire again in 1997 to work on the family cabin in Wold Tract west of Laramie. He had 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren scattered across the US. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cheyenne Animal Shelter in his name would be most welcome! The family will have a private reunion and celebration of his life
