William Lee Johnson

June 16, 1936 — June 1, 2025

Cheyenne

William L Johnson passed away peacefully on June 1st, 2025, at Aspen Wind with his loving family by his side.

Bill was born on June 16, 1936, in a car in the Big Thompson Canyon on the way to the hospital in Loveland, Colorado. He graduated from the University of Wyoming, where he met Judy Hilde. They were married on June 10, 1958.

After graduation, he went to work for the State of Wyoming Public Service Commission, where he retired.

Bill was a small sheep rancher, a 4-H leader, and a lifetime member of the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club, where his passion was serving as chairman of the Kiwanis pancake breakfast serving committee for many years. He even traveled to Times Square to appear on the morning news and serve pancakes. His other passion was the years he spent on the Kiwanis FFA Livestock Sale Committee.

He and Judy raised and sold miniature horses, miniature goats, and their pride and joy, miniature Australian Shepherds.

He is survived by his daughter, Trudy (Mark) Eisele, his grandchildren, Colton (Miranda), Kendall, and Kaycee, his great-grandchildren Genevieve, Porter, Karsyn, and Madeline, and a nephew, Kevin Kimbrough, as well as his family in Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his wife Judy of 61 years, his parents, William Milton and Helen Johnson, and his son Tim Johnson.

Those who wish may contribute to the Kiwanis FFA livestock sale committee or the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club Foundation.

Due to Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no service.
