Jessie Tuggle

November 1, 1950 — January 21, 2020

Jessie Mae Tuggle was born on November 1, 1950 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi.  She grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming with her mother, father, and her six siblings where she received her formal education.  Jessie moved to Wichita, Kansas where she joined in matrimony to Jerry Tuggle.

She was a homemaker and parent to their five children.  Jessie later moved to San Diego, California and received a degree in nursing.

In 1991, Jessie moved back to her hometown of Cheyenne and enjoyed life as a homemaker.  Every day you would find her watching her soap operas and Judge Judy.  She would also prepare as many as five or six meals a day.  She loved to eat, but gained more pleasure from seeing others enjoy her “made from scratch” home cooked meals.  Feeding others both physically and in spirit was her passion.  There was never a soul that her doors were not open too.  Her home was a place of refuge as well as a safe haven for many.

In 2014, Zaire aka “Buddy” was introduced into her life and sparked a new definition of the meaning of the name “Grandma”, as he gave her a new will and purpose in life.  Jessie Mae touched many lives and will greatly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her son, Baby Andre’; daughters, Baby Delores and Nita Tuggle; brothers, Robert and Troy Kelley; niece, Nancy B. Osborne; and great grandson, Baby Ky’ree.  She was also preceded in death by her life partner, Carmine Fernandez.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Jerri Lynn and Sherae Tuggle of Wichita and Nikki Tuggle (Fred Rodgers) of Cheyenne; sons, Kairy Hill of Denver and Ashton Tuggle (David Johnson) of Atlanta; sisters, Julia Duncan of Phoenix and Nancy L. Osborne of Cheyenne; brothers, Vernon Perkins of Cheyenne, Dan Kelley of San Diego and James Kelley of Denver; and grandchildren, Tasha of San Diego, Roneisha of Phoenix, Destiny and Kayana of Denver, Miguel of Jacksonville, Larissa, Daniel, Tra’Darius, and Zaire all of Cheyenne.  In addition, she leaves eight nieces and nephews and eleven extended grandchildren and a host of additional family and friends.
