Obie Pickelsimer

July 11, 1943 — January 1, 2021

Obie Ronald “Ron” Pickelsimer, 77, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cheyenne on Friday, January 1, 2021.

Ron was born July 11, 1943 in Casper, Wyoming, the son of the late Obie Pickelsimer and Doris Clark.

Ron served in the United States Air Force, enlisting on September 26, 1961 and completing his honorable service as Staff Sgt, E5 on July 1, 1966.  He worked for Public Service Company/ Xcel Energy for 32 years and retired as a senior technician of load control, microwave communications and relaying. Upon retiring in 2000, he enjoyed good whiskey, good cigars and was a man of strong opinions.   He loved the RV life, campfires and trail riding on his four wheeler.  He was an avid Broncos fan, and would have definitely supported the recent management change, which he missed hearing by a matter of days.

Ron is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 57 years, Amanda (Ziemer) Pickelsimer; daughter, Amanda Lynn Lapierre and husband, Ray; two granddaughters, Emily Lynn Andresen and Hannah Dale Andresen; and sister, Donna Olheiser.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at the convenience of the family.  Cremation is under the care of Schrader, Aragon and Jacoby Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ron to the Wyoming Wildlife Foundation at wyomingwildlifefoundation.org.
