Richard "Dick" Wilson

October 23, 1952 — May 17, 2012

Richard "Dick" John Wilson, 59, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012, at his home with his wife by his side after a year-long battle of cancer. He was born October 23, 1952, in Cheyenne to Darlene and John R. Wilson, and he lived in the Cheyenne area his entire life. He was a graduate of the University of Wyoming with a Bachelors of Science degree in 1977, and he had worked for the State of Wyoming materials lab for the past 32 years. In 1978, he married Karen Scarpelli at Red Feathers Lake, Colorado. His love of the outdoors was well known by all that knew him or loved him. Quick with a laugh and a joke at any occasion, his greatest passions were boating, riding his motorcycle, camping at the lake and spending time with his grandchildren: Chase Wilson, Austin Epler and McKenzie Wilson. As he grew older, his passion was taking care of his home and most of all his trees located North of Cheyenne. If he wasn't found at work with his best friends or working on his trees, he was usually riding his motorcycle with his famous "Tom Selleck look". Richard is survived by his wife, Karen V. Wilson of Cheyenne; his son, Mac "Chad" Wilson and wife, Michelle, and their three children; his mother, Darlene Wilson of Mesa, AZ ; and his sister, Joni Betz of Seattle, WA. He is preceded in death by his father, John R. Wilson. All are invited to attend a celebration of Dick's life held at his home on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 1:00p.m. For directions, please call Mac "Chad" Wilson at 307-630-2056. Cremation is under the direction of Schrader Funeral Home.
